To My Older Sister:
You turned 48 today. God, I feel old. Like I told you yestserday on the phone, it seems like only yesterday I helped my wonderful older nephew make gummy worms and spiders, and help you treat his asthma. Now he's on leave from Iraq and the father of a 15-month old little girl. Amazing.
It's been so long since we were little girls, the three of us. Swimming in the Summer. Trudging through the snow to buy bread and milk, then stopping at the library. Making homemade cinnamon rolls and candles. Playing Clue. Music lessons. Junior Art Gallery. You remember Polly, the dog? We had her how long.... 2-3 weeks?
It's been forever since we had a good talk. About family. The past. The future. Our illnesses, and overall health. About our parents, and our children. About Nana and Pap-pa. Grandmother and Grandfather.
I miss you, and hope you and your family are doing well. We intend to visit "home" next Fall, maybe October. Meanwhile, hope your birthday today was wonderful.
Your Sis
So much to talk about
