DO YOU GARDEN? I am researching a book called "My Very First Garden" (about edible gardening... fruits, vegetables, herbs, etc.) and need your true stories! Do you have a good (or even bad!) memory about the first garden you ever did? Was it inside in pots, outside when you were a kid, or in a community garden? Did you harvest anything or did the rabbits get it all? Please submit your short but true story to vikkibooks at yahoo dot com by April 27 2010. Your submission implies your consent to use your story and the possibility of (minor) editing. Thanks!

DNC, Naked Juice, Websites

Ok ok ... I know we haven't updated this blog in a while. Between working on the business, the garden, experimenting with different homemade bread recipes, lawn care, preparing next year's schoolwork, the Democratic National Convention, and regular daily family life.... we're very busy.

Both of the new websites are up and almost ready to launch:
  • For people interested in growing some/lots/all of their own food, need help gardening in a large yard or in containers, want information about fruits, veggies and other edibles, check out http://www.backyardgrocery.net/ soon.
  • For children who feel like they don't fit in and want to talk about (almost) anything and everything (peer pressure, education, friendship, global warming, indigo children/other labels), check out http://www.kidwhispers.net/ .

By the way, Weslee and I made our once-weekly trip to Wal-Mart and King Soopers this morning. As we were leaving King Soopers a "Naked Juice" van pulled into the next spot. Not only did we walk away with coupons, but J.T. (the woman rep) took Weslee's picture (I'll add it in later) and we exchanged information. Such a wonderful lady, and gotta say, some of the best natural wholesome juices on the market. We buy them by the dozen when they are on sale. Weslee's favorite is Blue Machine, I like the Red and Purple Machines, and Doug likes them all but I usually get him the Green and Gold Machines. Thanks J.T.!

Doug and I watched Michelle Obama's speech last night at the Democratic National Convention. Wonderful, stirring, and very eloquently presented. And we're tickled that Ted Kennedy made it not only to the convention but up to the podium to give his two cents. Keep fighting, Senator!

We are very much looking forward to Hillary Clinton's speech tonight. I'm sure it will be as powerful as she is.

I'll add more postings and pictures from last week when I get a chance.
