This is what we harvested from our garden this evening: our first Striata d'Italia zucchini, our first two yellow straightneck squash, our first okra, and three different varieties of tomatoes. We ate one of the squashes - so sweet and tender. Yummy!
Can you see Mr. Frog? Click on the photo to enlarge it. He's made his home in Corn Bed #3, and is barely peeking out there kinda in the center of the dirt. I've found him there now for three mornings in a row. Hope he's keeping down the bug population!
The above is in the gourd patch - the section that the fox dug up and scattered to the four winds! I replanted without the labels, and now, we think the above is a birdhouse gourd. Hope so.... after seeing this one, we found quite a few other ones on two vines! Crafts, anyone?
And this is the corn patch - quite a bit more grown up than the picture in June. The back bed (corn bed #1) is now almost 5 feet tall. Can you see the Mexican X-Top squash in the bottom right? To the left are some of our Starks Collonnade fruit trees - crab apple, peach, red apple and green/yellow apple. Hope they will transplant with us!
Today was another scorcher until the wind started blowing at 2:00 and along came a light drizzle at 2:30 p.m. I opened every window possible and by 5:30 our bedroom temp had dropped from 96 to 83 degrees! Amazing! Vikki
