DO YOU GARDEN? I am researching a book called "My Very First Garden" (about edible gardening... fruits, vegetables, herbs, etc.) and need your true stories! Do you have a good (or even bad!) memory about the first garden you ever did? Was it inside in pots, outside when you were a kid, or in a community garden? Did you harvest anything or did the rabbits get it all? Please submit your short but true story to vikkibooks at yahoo dot com by April 27 2010. Your submission implies your consent to use your story and the possibility of (minor) editing. Thanks!

7/7: The Doctor and the Yard

The 5 corn beds on the left - the back one is nearly 3 feet tall! Three of our 19 tomatoes, each with a marigold in the pot. So many flowers and teeny tomatoes - our mouths are watering!

Doug got to work on the yard soon after arriving home from work. Above 2 pictures - dumping the seeding soil. Note the square with only a tiny aspen seedling and a stump. And the rocks. Thinking about leaving it like that. Gotta get the weeds out tho.

Above, Doug is raking in the seeding soil that he just dumped from our red wheelbarrow.
Then he laid the seed and followed with more raking. What he's doing is "over-seeding". Let's hope we can keep it wet enough to grow.
.
Aside from that, one landscaper didn't show up until too late (we needed to leave for doc) and another is due any minute.
.
Doc look at the hole in Weslee's foot from yesterday and his ingrown toenail. He immediately got put on antibiotics because both were red and very nasty looking. Plus he needs to soak his feet 2-3 times a day, and gets to wear flip-flops until they are healed. Vikki
