Bike to Work Day

As you might know today was "Bike to Work Day" . I finally lived close enough to where I worked at to be able to participate in it. I woke up earlier than usual and left for work about 45 minutes earlier than usual. It was nice to feel the wind in my face as I left the house. I headed toward one of the main roads in the area and suddenly realized why most of the bicycle riders that I had seen a different day wore paper paint masks when they were riding the smell of the exhaust fumes almost knocked me off of my bike. I had to work hard to get up at least one of the hills and ended up walking my bike up as it was too steep for me. I watched to see if there were any other riders I was disappointed to only see one other one but lots of drivers shows how much most people care about the environment and the state of our energy crisis. I am going to make an effort to make this at least a weekly event and not just a once a year event. I enjoyed being out on the road and knowing that I wasn't adding to the pollution or draining more oil just to be able to get to work on time.
