DO YOU GARDEN? I am researching a book called "My Very First Garden" (about edible gardening... fruits, vegetables, herbs, etc.) and need your true stories! Do you have a good (or even bad!) memory about the first garden you ever did? Was it inside in pots, outside when you were a kid, or in a community garden? Did you harvest anything or did the rabbits get it all? Please submit your short but true story to vikkibooks at yahoo dot com by April 27 2010. Your submission implies your consent to use your story and the possibility of (minor) editing. Thanks!

9/12/08: Pic Catchup: Garden on 8/20

I'm way behind posting photos of our garden, so let's play catchup! These pictures will all taken on August 20. Vikki
8/20/08: Here a picture of the sunflowers (and a few corn stalks in the foreground) from the corn patch. In the background is the south side of our house. See the beautiful open sunflower? It's about 4 1/2 feet tall, our smallest.

8/20/08: Here's another view of the sunflower and corn patch, this time I'm facing west. As you can tell, we grew some tall sunflowers!
8/20/08: This is the container with the eggplant and okra (to the left, showing an eggplant that was picked the next day). In the background is the sprawling pumpkin vine. See that green gourd toward the right/middle? It finally began to turn orange, but as of 9/12, it's still not all the way orange. Hope it will be ready by next month.
