We've been working hard to make compost (since April?) and here's Doug shoveling the first load into one of our corn beds. Yippee!!
Here's Helper Weslee - he's moving some of our "overflow" weeds into the now empty compost bins.
Here's Weslee with our first freshly-picked celery. Notice the corn beds behind him, the kiddie pools in the front (lettuce, celery, radishes and greens under a tree), and the gourds and blueberries to the back-right.
Our little harvest today... the first celery, our last beet from our first batch, and a cucumber that wouldn't hold it's position for this picture. We were so busy we didn't pick any tomatoes or beans.
Couldn't resist showing our first corn with actual silks. Suddenly, most of the corn stalks have little bits of silk. Wonder if that means we'll have edible ears of corn soon?
We got a lot done in the garden today. The corn beds desparately needed weeding because the bindweed was choking the corn and, well, basically everything. We got that (mostly) cleaned up, put down some homemade compost, and watered real good. That took a lot longer than we expected, even with all three of us working.
All of that bending and weeding practically killed my fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel. Aaargh. Vikki
